Sydney Carter a native of Texas, is an American retired professional basketball player. She is currently serving as the Director of Player Development for women’s basketball at The University of Texas. Sydney served as the Texas A&M Assistant Coach in the 2021-2022 season. Before retiring, she played college basketball at Texas A&M University. She assisted the Aggies in winning the NCAA title during her junior year.

Sydney Carter Basketball Career

Carter began her basketball career in college. She played college basketball at Texas A&M University. During her Junior year, Sydney assisted the Aggies in winning the NCAA title. She graduated from University in 2012.  During her time at Texas A&M University, Carter became a three-time team captain in addition to being a defensive anchor for the A&M defense.

This helped her attain a spot on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team in 2011 and 2012. Sydney won the Miss Defense Award for three consecutive years from 2010. In addition, she won the Miss Aggie Aggie Award.  Sidney was selected by the Chicago Sky in the third round of the 2012 WNBA draft. She later signed a training camp contract in March 2018 with the Atlanta Dream. She was, however, cut before the start of the season.

Carter signed with the Connecticut Sun on June 10, 2013. The next year, Sydney was signed to a basketball team in Latvia. She managed to become a three-time Latvian/Estonian Champion in 2014, 2016 and 2017. In addition, in 2016, she became an Eastern European League champ. Carter retired in 2018 after suffering from a meniscus tear.

Sydney Carter attended DeSoto (DeSoto, Texas). After graduating from high school, she joined Texas A&M University. She played college basketball alongside various stars like; Sydney Colson and Danielle Adams. During her Junior year, Sydney assisted the Aggies in winning the NCAA title.
