Born in Wisconsin, Alaqua Cox is a Native American actress who rose to fame for her role as Maya Lopez / Echo in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. She was cast to play the role in 2021 for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She reprised her role as Maya Lopez in the 2024 spin-off series Echo. Cox also appeared in the film Marvel Studios: Assembled. The actress is both deaf and an amputee with a prosthetic lower leg.
